Caran d’Ache Non-Photo Blue

$5.25

These non-photo blue pencils are used to create preliminary sketches of drawings, designs, and comic pages before you ink or colour them.  Light blue is used instead of graphite as it will easily ‘disappear’ behind the colour applied, and does not cause smudging or dirtying of colours.  Historically, the light blue colour was not picked up by black and white copiers so would ‘disappear’.  Modern copiers and scanners can see the blue, but it can be easily edited out with graphic editing software. The pencils are erasable and can be drawn over with ink.

Established in Geneva in 1915, Caran d’Ache is a privately owned family company, making pencils to the high Swiss standard. Considered somewhat of a luxury brand, they are known for creating the first water-soluble pencils and inventing the clutch pencil.

Made in Switzerland.
