So many pencils...where do I start?

Pencils vary greatly between manufacturers, quality of graphite, wood and the quality of finish.  Interested in trying out some pencils and don’t know where to start? Do you have a physical shop location? How can I try the pencils?

At present we do not have a physical store location, however we are always on the lookout for opportunities in Melbourne. Keep an eye out for pop-up locations in the future.

We have tried to give as much information as possible to describe the pencils available and provided writing samples for most pencils. If you have any specific questions, please let us know.

What's the difference between HB, B, 2B, 2H etc? Are all HB pencils the same?

Not all pencils are created equal. Check out this post for some great info about graphite grades. Different pencil manufacturers grade their pencils differently, so an HB from Mitsubishi will be different from a HB from Faber-Castell. Different pencil brands and different pencil ranges within a brand also have differences in the graphite used.

Why don't you stock all the grades of pencil available within a range or brand?

We stock the full range of 15 Caran d’Ache Grafwood pencils, along with all 22 grades of Mitsubishi Hi-Uni pencils – both premium-range artist pencils.

As a new small business, we’ve had to make some difficult decisions about our product range. Some brands have up to 24 different grades of graphite in a single line of pencils, so we simply couldn’t stock all grades for all brands. With your support we will continue to grow our stock and offer a wider variety of pencils.

I'm looking for a specific pencil, or type of pencil.

If you’re looking for something specific and can’t find it, please let us know. We have an extensive network of pencil suppliers and resources and can likely source any currently manufactured pencil you’re after. We might even be able to find something vintage or rare for you!

Can I get a large number of pencils, or can I get my pencils shipped in a full box?

For orders of 12 or more of a single variety we will do our best to send you full boxes, where we have them available. If you’re looking to buy larger quantities of pencils, or wish to specifically request boxes, please contact us before placing an order.

What shipping services are offered? Do you ship internationally?

All items are shipped from Melbourne, Australia.  We offer standard domestic shipping for a flat $5.75 fee, and free domestic shipping for all orders over $60.

Shipping to New Zealand is a flat rate of $18.50.  All orders are billed in Australian Dollars.

All shipping includes a tracking number, but may not require a signature on delivery. You will receive an email from us with your tracking number once your item has been sent.

We do not offer shipping to other countries online, however if you would like to place an order for international delivery, please contact us with your order details to discuss options.

I have an issue with a purchase, or I need a refund.

If you have any issues at all with your order or pencils, please contact us and we will do our best to resolve the issue as quickly as we can.

Do you sell Gift Cards?

At the moment we do not offer Gift Cards. This is something we hope to add in the future. Looking for a gift for someone? Please feel free to reach out and we would be happy to discuss putting together a custom gift for you, or check out the gift sets available in the store.

REFUND POLICY

Our goal is to ensure you are 100% happy with your purchase.

If you have any issues you’d like to address, please reach out and let us know—we will do what we can to help.

We handle returns and process refunds in accordance with the Australian Consumer Protection legislation. Used goods, used pencils, sharpened pencils and vintage pencils will not be refunded unless required by law. Refunds will be processed promptly and will made to the original payment method only. All refunds are made at the discretion of pencilly.com.au.

Delivery of Goods
Purchased items will be delivered by Australia Post and/or other courier companies. Deliveries are processed only upon receipt of full payment. Delivery may take between 2 and 14 days. Damaged or lost orders should be resolved with Australia Post or the courier company in the first instance. Replacement of lost or damaged items is made at the discretion of Pencilly.
