Pencil Bundle: Beautifully Soft Collection

Try a selection of our softest pencils with this set of high-quality pencils. While these may not be the ideal pencils for everyday writing, if you’re more artistically inclined these pencils will allow you to explore some soft dark lines. We’ve included 2 Japanese ‘penmanship’ pencils (4B, 6B) used to practice calligraphy, and are described as ‘brush like’.

Photos are often taken of multiple pencils, however all pencils are sold individually unless specifically stated otherwise.

1 × Blackwing Matte Black - Single
Ideal for musicians, artists, or anyone who prefer a dark line, the Matte Black is the softest of the four Blackwing varieties.  Matte Black pencils feature a timeless black finish, iconic square Blackwing ferrule and black eraser.  Note that Blackwing pencils are longer than most pencils, at around 20cm. Blackwing is an American brand under Palomino.  The pencils are made with Japanese graphite and Californian cedar.

1 × General's Layout Extra Black 555
An extra smooth, black, thick graphite pencil used to create preliminary sketches, to “layout” drawing before painting over, or add intense blacks and shading in graphite drawings. Also good for writing if you like a very dark and soft line.  Equivalent to an Ebony Pencil. The General Pencil Company has been in operation since 1889 and has remained family owned and operated across six generations.  Currently it is one of the last pencil factories in the USA, operating in New Jersey. 1 × Mitsubishi Penmanship Triangular 6B
These Mitsubishi Penmanship pencils are intended for 'Kohitsu Shosha' - practising Chinese calligraphy.  They're dark, soft, brush-like, and have a wide core.  While not ideal for everyday writing given their softness, these pencils certainly have their fans for drawing, hand lettering, calligraphy, or just to write with something a bit special. Unrelated to the car company, Mitsubishi Pencil Company was founded in Japan in 1887 and is considered one of the leading manufacturers of pencils still operating in Japan. Today they are also well known for their Uni-ball brand of products. Made in Japan. writing sample

1 × Tombow Penmanship KM-KKS 4B
These Tombow Penmanship pencils are intended for 'Kohitsu Shosha' - practising Chinese calligraphy.  They're dark, soft, brush-like and have a wide core.  While not ideal for everyday writing given their softness, these pencils certainly have their fans for drawing, hand lettering, calligraphy, or just to write with something a bit special. Tombow Pencil Co. was founded in 1913 in Japan. Tombow means ‘dragonfly’ in Japanese, as featured on their logo. Tombow no longer manufacture most lines of their pencil products in Japan, however maintain a very high level of quality. Made in Vietnam. writing sample

1 × Musgrave 600 News
With a thick dark soft core, this pencil has a strong following from artists, musicians and puzzle lovers alike.  The 600 News is comparable to a 5-6B and has a unique and interesting texture which cannot be found in other pencils.  Be aware that this pencil core is fragile due to it's nature, so a short rounded point and a manual sharpener is recommended. Kimberly is the premium drawing pencil range from General's.  The 9XXB is soft, smooth, and has extra extra black matte graphite. Graded 9B this wide core pencil is semi-jumbo in size, approximately 8.5mm in diameter.
