In Japanese, Matomaru means to “collect” or “gather”, and -kun is a type of honorific. The name refers to this erasers ability to gather up the eraser residue into clumps, giving a clean erasing experience. This highly effective eraser is said to be one of the best for general use with its soft, spongy plastic and simple fun design.

The Hinodewashi company was established in Japan in 1951, however the company’s history dates back to 1919. Their Matomaru-kun erasers have been highly popular in Japan since their introduction in 1986.
