Caran d’Ache Swiss Wood

This is one beautifully designed pencil, and is sure to make it into your favourites.  The Swiss Wood is made of dark beech wood from the Swiss Jura forest and has a scent some describe as nutmeg, others chocolate or brown sugar.  It’s heavier and slightly larger in diameter than regular pencils which gives it a nice weight in the hand.

Note: Due to this pencils slightly larger diameter, it will not fit in some regular sharpeners. It will not fit in the Kum Single Hole Longpoint, however it will fit in the Kum Glass Bottle Sharpener.

This pencil has some inconsistencies in the graphite used.  Some batch numbers feature a darker line, others lighter.  There are also small differences in the smoothness of the graphite between batch numbers.  We have included an image of the batch number available for sale.

Established in Geneva in 1915, Caran d’Ache is a privately owned family company, making pencils to the high Swiss standard. Considered somewhat of a luxury brand, they are known for creating the first water-soluble pencils and inventing the clutch pencil.
