Pencil Bundle: Besties for Lefties

This is the only Caran d'Ache pencil to feature an eraser on the end.  A great HB yellow 'school' pencil from a high-end brand. Established in Geneva in 1915, Caran d’Ache is a privately owned family company, making pencils to the high Swiss standard. Considered somewhat of a luxury brand, they are known for creating the first water-soluble pencils and inventing the clutch pencil. Made in Switzerland.

Castell 9000 was launched on the market in 1905 by Alexander Graf von Faber-Castell. These pencils tend to mark a little light, so the 2B is perfect for writing.  It's a lightweight pencil that's a good mix of quality, availability and price. One of the most recognisable stationery brands on the planet, Faber-Castell’s history dates back to 1761.  Known in it's early days as the A.W. Faber Company, Faber-Castell manufacture around 2 billion pencils per year in their factories across the world. Made with German lead.

A great pencil for 'general writing'.  This pencil does not have any eraser which makes it very light weight, and comes in a beautiful green lacquer. Quite underrated, this is a great everyday pencil.  Historically Japanese pencils included their intended purpose on their label to standardise various qualities of pencil, and many of these labels remain. Unrelated to the car company, Mitsubishi Pencil Company was founded in Japan in 1887 and is considered one of the leading manufacturers of pencils still operating in Japan. Today they are also well known for their Uni-ball brand of products. Made in Japan.

Test Scoring or Mark Sheet pencils feature soft black reflective graphite that was originally designed for 'Scantron' testing. Test scoring pencils are very popular with crossword puzzle enthusiasts because of the dark line they make.  The Mitsubishi Marksheet is no exception, providing a dark line with relatively good point retention. The high-end 'MONO100' was released to commemorate the 55th anniversary of Tombow in 1967. Named 'MONO100' as the fineness of the core particles was increased to 10 billion particles per cubic millimetre. It is the highest-quality of all Tombow pencils and comes in a range of 17 degrees of hardness from 6B to 9H. The high-density structure of the graphite lead allows smooth drawing and dark lines on the paper.  The gold engraved letters and ring cap stand out against the smooth and glossy jet black body. These are truly beautiful pencils to look at and to use. Tombow Pencil Co. was founded in 1913 in Japan. Tombow means ‘dragonfly’ in Japanese, as featured on their logo. Tombow no longer manufacture most lines of their pencil products in Japan, however maintain a very high level of quality. Made in Vietnam.
