Mitsubishi Dermatograph – Set of 12

Mitsubishi Dermatograph pencils are special oil pencils that are able to write on many surfaces including glass, metal, ceramics, vinyl and plastic.  They feature a waxy core that writes smoothly, and are wrapped in a paper covering that can be removed to ‘sharpen’ the pencil.  Otherwise known as oil- or grease-pencils, they function similar to a wax crayon.  The word Dermatograph comes from Greek meaning ‘skin writing’, or to mark on the skin, as they are also used in a medical setting since the marks are easily made and removed.

Unrelated to the car company, Mitsubishi Pencil Company was founded in Japan in 1887 and is considered one of the leading manufacturers of pencils still operating in Japan. Today they are also well known for their Uni-ball brand of products.
